Thank you for visiting our new website and for caring about the children of our community.  It is critical for the upstanding members of our society to take action to help those children who have been victims of these horrific crimes and work activity to stop those that are committing these horrible acts. "If we don't, then who will?"

    • 1,825 children die every year due to abuse and neglect!
  • Every SIX minutes in the United States of America a child is sexually abused-
    • 240 children are traumatized by sexual abuse every day!
  • If you don't help them, who will?

A New Beginning for Zach

On a fall morning in 2007, police were called to an Irondequoit home where three adults had been found stabbed to death. A ten year-old boy, Zach, was found alive, having witnessed the death of his mother and a family friend at the hands of his step-father who then took his own life. SPCC trauma therapist, Andrea, was called upon to provide therapy for Zach as he processed the horrific events that had transpired that morning.


For the next year, with support from SPCC and AACM, Zach adjusted to this new life without his mother. Prior to this tragedy, Zach had spent brief periods of time in a foster home where he was now welcomed back once again. Over time, the bond between Zach and his foster parents strengthened while Zach continued to work through the grief and traumatic memories resulting from years of ongoing domestic violence in his home.
